Redo surgery for type A aortic dissection is difficult. This patient received replacement of ascending aorta at another hospital 2 years ago. This movie shows you how we perform redo surgery for this kind of patients. Before sternotomy, we put the patient on pump through the femoral artery and both carotid arteries. With the use of vascular ring connectors (Vasoring) and fresh elephant trunk, the procedure became much easier. The heart ischemic time was 62 minutes and the patient received only one unit of blood transfusion (Actually half of our patients needed no blood transfusion). There was no much post-operative bleeding and the endotracheal tube was removed 12 hours after the surgery.
